The DIR/Floortime model is a way of helping children learn, grow, and connect through play and relationships. Instead of telling your child what to play, you join in their play and add new ideas. The goal isn’t to “fix” behaviours, but to build connection and help your child move up the developmental ladder—from shared attention, to two-way communication, to flexible thinking, and beyond.

The Developmental Pyramid is a visual representation that shows how foundational skills support every aspect of development and daily functioning. When any of these underlying systems are disrupted, it can negatively impact a child’s ability to build more advanced skills and reach their goals.
